Valentine’s Cake Truffles

Ingredients
  

  • Boxed cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • cup oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • Candy Melts
  • Pink gel food coloring

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13x9 baking pan and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together cake mix, egg, water, and oil.
  • Add in food coloring and whisk until well incorporated.
  • Pour cake batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-35 minutes.
  • While cake bakes set out your cream cheese so it can warm up.
  • Let the cake cool for 15-20 min.
  • Crumble cake into a large bowl and add cream cheese.
  • Beat with a mixer until cream cheese is well incorporated and a dough texture has formed.
  • Shape dough into 1 in balls, and then shape balls into hearts.
  • Melt your pink candy melts per package instructions.
  • Dip each heart into pink candy melts and set on parchment paper.
  • Place a few red and white candy melts into sandwich bags and melt in the microwave, squishing the bag to get all the chunks melted.
  • Cut a tiny piece of the corner off the baggie and drizzle red and white on the corner of each covered heart.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
