Ingredients

  • Vanilla Cake Mix + Box Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • ¼ cup vanilla frosting
  • 3-4 pop rocks packets
  • 1 cup white chocolate melting chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
  • In a mixing bowl prepare the vanilla cake batter by following the cake box mix directions.
  • Once the batter is made add the teaspoon of orange extract to the batter and mix thoroughly.
  • Place batter in a baking sprayed cake pan and bake for cake box mix’s designated time
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let cool for 15 minutes.
  • Crumble the cake in a mixing bowl and let cool for another 20 minutes.
  • Add the frosting to the crumbled orange vanilla cake and blend together with clean hands or a fork until cake dough has formed.
  • Heat the white melting chips in the microwave at 30 second intervals until totally melted.
  • Use a 1 inch scooper to create the same size for each bon bon. Place on a parchment covered baking sheet.
  • Press your finger into each cake ball to make a hole. Then pour about ½ teaspoon of pop rocks into each. Close the hole by forming the dough ball back together and rolling back into a nice circular shape.
  • Dip each cake truffle into the melted white chocolate, coating all sides, draining any excess and placing back on the parchment paper. Top with extra pop rocks
  • Let them harden in the refrigerator or at room temperature.
  • Bite into the homemade harry potter bon bon’s and enjoy the orange flavor and crunchy pops!

Notes

To speed up the cooling time for the cakes out of the oven, place them in the freezer after crumbling them.
If white melting chips are too thick, add a bit of coconut or vegetable oil to the warm chocolates to thin them out.
